Lincolnshire: Natural formality
To compliment the formal but rustic aesthetic of the house, the clients asked for a design that incorporates a mix of formality and softness with a number of areas to sit at different times of the day and evening to enjoy the garden from different aspects.
The large patio has been broken up with L-shaped planting areas to give a natural, enclosed feeling. Views from the house now look over planting which is much more pleasing and intriguing than looking straight out onto paving or lawn. Multi-stemmed trees provide height and further dapple the view, making you want to explore further into the garden.
The space is large enough for a number of furniture options - comfortable seating, a dining table with parasol, barbecue or sun loungers could all be accommodated. A babbling water table has been included for height and interest. Plank stepping stone paths through the planting draw you into the garden.
