Lincolnshire: The Old Rectory Garden
The garden and driveway wraps around a magnificent Grade II listed rectory house with bothy style outbuildings. With cottage style planting and pleached trees creating an elevated screen, the space has an enclosed feel and offers a space for sitting, dining and entertaining. Access has been retained, allowing cars to be driven through, if needed. Mediteranian style terracotta pots pick up the tones from the clay tiles of the roof and add both height and structure which remains during the winter months. Adding grandeur and accentuating the main house porch & existing terrace, by adding standard trees and planting beds either side of the driveway, the overwhelming area of gravel driveway is broken up. The sight line is channelled and a vista is created through to the meadow behind. A formalised parking area for family and guests has been added, moved away from the courtyard and screened behind planting and trees. Access through to the meadow behind has been further opened, creating a vista through from the driveway entrance.
